Suicide Prevention

The District recognizes that schools have an important role, in partnership with parents and guardians, in preventing youth suicide.  Being aware of risk factors in students' lives is key to this responsibility.  Our administrators and support staff want to be respectful and responsive to community members when addressing or discussing the topic of suicide.  To our parents, guardians and friends who may be looking for resources to better understand suicide risk and prevention or for age-appropriate resources to discuss suicide, please see a list of online resources, below.

Please contact the Guidance Departments at the middle school (353-7220) or the high school (353-7120) to speak to a guidance counselor or if additional professional assistance is needed.  Our support staff at Nyack Public Schools is available should you have questions or concerns.  The safety, security and psychological well-being of all our students is our priority.
