  • A Letter from the Superintendent was emailed to parents/guardians RE: students' use of District-approved internet applications and webtools

    Nyack Public Schools utilizes certain internet-based applications (commonly referred to as "apps") and webtools to provide effective educational resources for students.  A list of District-approved apps and webtools, with the privacy policy for each, can be found on the District website  under Parent Resources > Bill of Rights > Information Regarding Other Applications & Webtools. 

    Please note that this listing will be updated throughout the year as apps and webtools are added or deleted, with District approval.

  • Nyack Schools Launch a NEW early childhood literacy program to help babies learn and thrive in the first 3 years of life.

    The NYACK BASICS launched on January 8th, 2018.  Over 150 school community leaders, early childhood educators and county service providers joined together in Hilltop Auditorium to kick off this new initiative lead by Superintendent James Montesano and Assistant Superintendent Winsome Gregory. 

    The District welcomed Chancellor Betty Rosa, Regent Judy Johnson and Regent Luis Reyes from the NY State Department of Ed for a tour of the schools.  Founder of The Boston Basics and Harvard Economist Ron Ferguson lead the the day as keynote speaker. The District plans to implement The Nyack Basics and support a community-lead campaign to help ensure that all children read by the third grade.

Karen Hughes, Board President, 2nd term expires in June, 2018 

Ms. Hughes, a Software Engineer, has lived in Upper Nyack for 18 years.  She has two children; a son in Nyack High School and a daughter who is a Nyack graduate.

 

Terence Rock, Board Vice President, 2nd term expires in June, 2019

Mr. Rock has lived in Valley Cottage for the past 17 years.  He is a Sales Director at Juniper Networks.  He has two children; one at Nyack High School and one a Nyack graduate.

   

Jennifer Marraccino, Board Secretary, 2nd term expires in June, 2020

Ms. Marraccino, a Development Director, is a 19 year resident of Upper Nyack. She has four children; one each in Nyack High School, Nyack Middle School and Upper Nyack Elementary School, plus a Nyack graduate.
  

 

Damon Bender, 1st term expires in June, 2018

Mr. Bender, an Attorney and Tax Consultant, resides in Valley Cottage.  He has three children, one in Nyack Middle School, one in Valley Cottage Elementary School and another in preschool.

 

Beth Davidson, 1st term expires in June, 2020

Ms. Davidson, a Marketing Consultant, resides in Nyack. She has two children, both attending Valley Cottage Elementary School.

 

Michael Mark, 7th term expires in June, 2019

Mr. Mark, a Professional Musician, has been a Valley Cottage resident for 29 years. He  has two children, a daughter and a son who have graduated from Nyack High School.

   

James Marshall, 3nd term expires in June, 2020

Mr. Marshall has lived in Nyack for the past 25 years.  He is a Senior Account Executive for Verizon and has two children; both are Nyack graduates.

Lucy Jackson, Student Representative: (2017-18)
Although without a vote on the Board, the representative serves the important function of liaison between the Board and students. The representative is the High School Student Government President.
