Congressman Mondaire Jones Youth Advisory Council - Opportunity for High School Students!
The office of Congressman Mondaire Jones is launching the Youth Advisory Council which seeks to provides high school age participants the opportunity to actively learn about Congress. It will allow students to learn about the bill making process through hands on activities and presentations. The program will culminate with a virtual presentation to the Congressman and members of the public by the students.
The program will run for a school year beginning in September and ending in June. Students will meet once per month for 1-1.5 hours. The students will be divided into groups based on interest and are responsible for an end of year presentation. Each month’s meetings will centered on a different topic and led by the staff member responsible for that issue area. Participants are expected to attend each meeting, with absences communicated to the staff point of contact. Students will not be able to continue with the program after 3 absences.

To help curb the spread of COVID-19, including the Delta and Omicron variants, in our community, the Nyack Board of Education will not be meeting in-person for its meeting on January 18, 2022. Pursuant to recent New York State legislation, which modifies the Open Meetings Law to temporarily allow for remote public meetings, the January 18, 2022 Nyack Board of Education meeting will be held via videoconferencing.
