Letter from Dr. LRG regarding the announcement of NHS Principal Saieva's retirement, effective June 30, 2026
March 5, 2026
Dear Nyack School Community,
It is with bittersweet RedHawk pride that I share the news that Ms. Nicole Saieva has announced her retirement from Nyack Public Schools, effective June 30, 2026, following an extraordinary thirty one years of service to our students, staff, families, and school community.
Ms. Saieva’s current role of fourteen years as Principal of Nyack High School (NHS) proceeds a leadership trajectory that spans across three decades in our schools. She was Principal of Nyack Middle School (NMS) for five years; Assistant Principal at NHS for four; and Assistant Principal at NMS for one. She began her career in NPS as a middle school science teacher, then English teacher.
It feels especially fitting at the beginning of National Women’s Month to recognize Nicole Saieva as a true powerhouse - someone whose charisma, strength, brilliance, and influence have shaped our high school community. She has been a driving force for the thousands of students in their educational journey towards graduation.
As Superintendent, I see that Principal Saieva has led with integrity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to students. She has expanded opportunities, championed meaningful initiatives, encouraged student voice, and been a critical voice herself in cultivating a culture rooted in belonging and high expectations. I believe her legacy will be rooted in a bold love she has had for our babies. On behalf of our leadership team and all staff, I express profound gratitude for Nicole’s service and the tremendous impact she has had on generations of our students.
Ms. Saieva’s decision comes with a deep sense of pride, stating “I am blessed to have been entrusted with doing what I love to do in this wonderful community. I will be forever grateful for the love and support I’ve received from the students, their families, and the staff throughout my career here in Nyack Public Schools.”
Be assured, there will be a thoughtful search consistent with our district hiring process to include stakeholder engagement and identify the next Nyack High School principal who will reflect NPS values and vision. In the meantime, please join me in celebrating and thanking Ms. Saieva for her remarkable dedication to Nyack Public Schools.
Yours in Education,
Dr. Lizzette Ruiz-Giovinazzi
Superintendent of Schools
